My artistic process is rooted in my body, and the contemplative practices I've experienced over the last decade, though my dance, performance and yogic practices
My body is my primary medium of reflection, from where external explorations can accrue.
Clay is a medium of choice for me because it embodies resilience, where Its relationality to time offers an echo chamber of reflection on permanence and ephemeral forms in life.
I am fascinated by the patina that results from everyday interactions with objects, translating the relationship between the object and its user.
It is at the place of repetitive uses or practices that the story of the object, beyond time can be revealed.
Like traditions, meditation practices, rituals, or ceremonies, the principle of repetition is essential for their existence.
This repetitive quality is expressed in my coil technique and the consistent hand movements I use during creation.
Sculpting ceramics is an exploration to reflect and transform my own body.
It is with the same attitude I listen to my own body that I listen to clay, navigating in concord, potentials and limitations.
When in contact with clay, it reminds me of the connection humans have had with it for centuries, and how essential the mastering of this craft has been for the survival of primitive societies.
Clay captures a moment in time, and its fragile quality will forever intrigue me; perhaps one day it will break, or perhaps another will hold it years later. only those beyond use will be able to tell.
