Repetition as a Form of Devotion
Around the globe, repetition is frequently used as a way to show devotion.
The nature of devotion shapes the various types of repetition, so only intentional ones will have an impact on reality.
The essence of devotion through repetition can be discovered in our heartbeat.
At the beginning of the quarantine, being confined to my apartment made me realize the amount of movement my body still craved. With my routine commutes, daily park runs, and plans for trips outside of New York State halted by the stillness of quarantine, only my yoga practice remained. Delving deeper into my practice of deep listening, I uncovered unfulfilled movements now impossible to carry out. This realization inspired me to begin the Japa series as a tribute to those unfulfilled movements and an expression of gratitude for my healthy body.
